OUR STORY

Founded by Martin Dijkema and Richard Meier, Vapen Security brings together a wealth of expertise in high-security safe design and the weapons industry. With years of hands-on experience in installing, cracking, testing, and manufacturing safes, as well as designing weapon components and systems, our founders have established themselves as leaders in the field.

The inspiration for Vapen Security emerged during a visit to a safe dealer's warehouse, where Martin inquired about gun safes with an impressive automotive paint finish. To his surprise, the dealer revealed that these safes were vulnerable, lacking the necessary security features. Recognizing the flaws in traditional gun safes—such as deceptive paint finishes, thinly constructed doors, and impractical designs—Martin and Richard set out to redefine the industry standard.

Their realization that existing gun safes did not consider the dynamic nature of weapons usage and were susceptible to modern tools prompted them to embark on a journey to create a revolutionary gun safe. As partners in a defense contracting company specializing in military equipment, Martin and Richard leveraged their combined experience and began brainstorming ideas for a new kind of gun safe.

Rich, having previously developed aftermarket components for the Glock in the 1990s, expressed dissatisfaction with the outdated interior designs of gun safes. Traditional wooden interiors covered in carpeting were impractical, especially in emergencies, and did not align with current weapons technology. This dissatisfaction fueled a meticulous design process that resulted in the birth of the Vapensystems QVR, QVRT, and THOR.

Our dedication to design, coupled with our profound understanding of safe and weapons design, has given rise to products boasting unparalleled security, swift and easy access, and the flexibility to be placed in locations traditionally unsuitable for safes.
